Step 1: Remove the box from the crate by removing the screws with an electric drill. Once you have opened the crate, cut the plastic straps around the box and unbox the tent by removing the top cover of the cardboard box. Lifting the tent out of the box will require two people.
Step 2: Remove the protective plastic film from the top and bottom of the tent.
Step 3: Open your Origin tent by undoing the straps at one end and pulling up on that end. Remove the bag containing the ladder and mounting hardware. Close the tent by pushing or pulling the open end down and fastening the straps.
Step 4: Place the tent on your cross bars. This will require two people.
Step 5: Insert bolts into a mounting bracket to create a mounting set. Put the mounting sets into the mounting rails on the bottom of the tent. Slide mounting sets to cross bars. You will need to lift the tent slightly to get the mounting sets to straddle the crossbars.
Step 6: Place each of the four mounting plates onto the two bolts at each corner and thread the included nuts onto the bolts but do not tighten them.
Step 7: Orient your roof top tent so that it is centered with the vehicle. Check forwards and backwards and left to right.
Step 8: Securely tighten all of the mounting hardware using the included wrench. Double check that latches on either side of tent are secured. Drive your car about 10 to 20 miles and check to make sure the nuts are still tight. Sometimes rooftop tents will shift and you may need to tighten bolts before long distance travel.
You will want to periodically check the mounting hardware to make sure it is still tight and the rooftop tent is secure.
Check locally to see where packaging materials can be reused or recycled.
Instructions for Receiving Your Origin Shipment
Origin works with a variety of freight trucking providers to ensure fast and reliable shipping services to our customers. To help ensure that our customers receive their roof top tent in good condition, every Origin tent is shipped crated and on a pallet.
Once your Origin tent leaves our warehouse in Missouri we will email you a tracking number and a link to track your shipment.
The freight company will call you to schedule the final delivery. Make sure you can be present to sign for the delivery.
Accepting your Origin Tent Delivery
When the freight company arrives they will pull the crated tent off the truck and ask you to sign the bill of lading to clear the delivery. Do not sign the bill until you have inspected the box for damage. We highly recommend taking this important step and taking your time. The driver will not assist you in the inspection. You are responsible for noticing and notating any damages upon delivery.
- If you see any damage to the box note it on the bill of lading and check the box for “damaged”. Do this even if you think the tent itself is fine.
- If you see damage to the tent itself, you must decide whether or not to refuse the shipment. If you refuse the shipment, you must carefully and completely notate the damage on the bill and write “shipment refused due to damage”. Origin will send out a new tent if we have one in stock.
- If the tent is damaged but you choose to keep it, you must carefully and completely notate the damage on the bill before signing it. Origin will work with you within reason to repair the damage.
- Be aware that once you sign that the tent is “undamaged", if damage is subsequently found, it will be difficult or impossible to get compensation from the shipping company or to get a replacement tent.
Once you have accepted your delivery you can proceed to the installation instructions on our website at origincampingsupply.com
